Alright, so I posted on our other blog that I'd just finished the book by Elizabeth Gaskell Tuesday morning 3:00 a.m.
Um...I LOVED it! It has suddenly become very likely my most favorite love story. And just so you know, Mr. Thornton in the book is far more dashing than the character in the movie. However; I have to say that Richard Armitage's face definitely helps you like the character in the book more...if that's possible.
I've also learned that I am a little behind in picking up and this BBC film, and to my great relief I am not the only person it has affected thusly. As I said before, anyone interested in discussing the book here is welcome, just leave a comment and we'll get it going. I'm planning on reading it again, and slower so that I can actually come up with something other than the love story to discuss. I did pick up on some strong "gender role" themes that were really interesting to me.
So, there it is, and I hope to hear from all you North and South lovers soon.

Okay, so I should have posted here. :) I haven't quite figured out how to comment on a comment yet. ? I will have to pick up North & South when we go on our little outing to the library!
I did finish the movie last night. WOW! I can't say enough about it. It is one of my new favorites for sure! Outstanding! I am SO excited to read the book and I'm so glad you are willing to lend your copy to me. I'm also glad you loved The Only Alien on the Planet. Great story, huh?
I am ordering both the movie and book from Amazon on your recommendation! I'm looking forward to them.
